Community Engagement

At RS&F, we are committed to helping the communities we serve and work to aid their growth. Whether it be through our firm community service day, or by supporting our team in their personal community service commitments, we strive to help local communities thrive.

Volunteer Days

Through our FUN Committee, RS&F identifies a variety of causes important to our firm and employees and narrows the selection down to one organization to support during our designated Volunteer Days.

2020 Volunteer Days included:

  • Polar Bear Plunge at Sandy Point State Park, raising money for Special Olympics Athletes.

2019 Volunteer Days included:

  • Polar Bear Plunge at Sandy Point State Park, raising money for Special Olympics Athletes.
  • Volunteered with MD Special Olympics for the 2019 Summer Games Swimming Event at Towson University.
  • Tree decorating for Kennedy Krieger’s Festival of Trees, supporting the children of Kennedy Krieger Institute.
  • RS&F Adopts 48 Children as a part of the Y of Central Maryland’s Annual Giving Tree Drive.

2018 Volunteer Days included:

  • June 7, 2018 with crews at Catholic Charities, Timonium.
  • December 14, 2018 when RS&F gave back by making sandwiches for Manna House, Inc., which serves more than 68,000 meals a year to the homeless and poor in Baltimore.

You Care We Care

In addition to our volunteer days, every quarter, the FUN Committee identifies one outstanding employee for their personal service commitment to a non-profit organization of their choice and grants that organization a monetary donation.

This past quarter, RS&F recognized Sew Ministry at Holy Family and OLPH.

Volunteer Spotlight: Christine M. Perkey, RN, CMPE, Senior Consultant, Health Care Division

Chris is a regular volunteer with the Sew Ministry at Holy Family and OLPH which provides support to a variety of organizations by making and sewing items including clothing, hats, scarves, walker totes for the elderly, quilts and more. As Chris puts it, wherever there is a need, they work to facilitate a solution.

In addition to the handmade items that are donated, The Sew Ministry hosts fundraisers and sales to collect items and money for The Haiti Project, Little Sisters of the Poor, homeless shelters, Isaiah Promises and others.

The Sew Ministry is open to all those interested in volunteering whether they are sewers or non-sewers.  The group meets the third Tuesday of the month (6:00-9:30) at Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville MD, and holds two Saturday retreats a year.  Holy Family and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parishes work closely together to support the ministry.

In addition to her work with The Sew Ministry, Chris also supports Anne Arundel Medical Center and Isaiah’s Promises. Chris joined the RS&F team when SHR Associates was acquired in 2016. Before that, she was with SHR for more than 15 years.
